Asian Team Racing Championship

Result: Singapore Malaysia China Japan Late winds reduced the format of the team-racing event to a direct elimination series. Singapore sailed superbly to beat the favourites Malaysia by 2-1 in the final, while in the petit final China beat Japan for the Bronze medal due to a critical Japanese OCS in the deciding match. Following the Asian event Singapore sailed against Italy, who had earlier beaten the other non-Asian team Great Britain, for the Open Championship and were delighted to record a 2-0 victory.
